Christian A. Hettinger, MD
Dr. Hettinger is pleased to join Kansas City Urology Care after completing 5 years of training in general surgery and urology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. After growing up in Kansas City, Dr. Hettinger moved to Memphis, TN, where he attended Rhodes College and graduated cum laude. He graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in 2005. He then moved to Rochester, MN to complete his internship and residency at the Mayo Clinic.
While at the Mayo Clinic, he had extensive training in robotic surgery and treatment of cancers of the urinary tract. In addition to robotic prostatectomy, Dr. Hettinger also performs multiple other robotic surgeries, including robotic nephrectomy and partial nephrectomy (removal of all or part of the kidney), robotic pyeloplasty, robotic sacrocolpopexy (female prolapse reconstruction), robotic ureteral reimplantation, robotic bladder diverticulectomy, robotic appendicovesicostomy, and robotic inguinal lymph node dissection for penile cancer.
Dr. Hettinger is trained in all aspects of urology and also has interests in urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction, and the treatment of stones and enlarged prostates. He has completed additional training at the Mayo Clinic in microsurgery. He is a member of the American Urological Association. He is licensed to practice medicine in Kansas and Missouri. Dr. Hettinger is Board Certified. He is married to Dr. Allison Hettinger, a pediatrician, and has two children.
